Privacy Policy
How we handle your information — and why it matters to us.
Last updated: May 2026
At The Canoe Project, trust is foundational to everything we do. We work with people in real transitions — career pivots, health recoveries, leadership challenges — and we take seriously the responsibility that comes with that. This page tells you plainly what we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.
Who we are
The Canoe Project is a leadership development and coaching practice. We offer executive coaching, group programs, workshops, and facilitation services through our website at thecanoeproject.com.
When this policy refers to “we,” “us,” or “our,” it means The Canoe Project and its principals.
What we collect
We only collect what we actually need. This includes:
Contact details you provide (name, email, phone) when you reach out or fill out a form
Information you share through coaching intake forms or discovery conversations
Basic website usage data through tools like Google Analytics (pages visited, time on site)
Email interaction data if you subscribe to our newsletter or correspondence list
We do not collect payment information directly — any transactions are handled through secure third-party processors.
How we use it
We use your information to:
Respond to your inquiries and schedule conversations
Deliver coaching programs and services you’ve signed up for
Send communications you’ve opted into (and only those)
Understand how our website is used so we can improve it
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes. Full stop.
Coaching confidentiality
Anything shared within a coaching relationship is held in strict confidence. We do not discuss, share, or reference client conversations outside of the direct service relationship — not with employers, not with colleagues, not with anyone — unless you’ve given explicit written permission or we are legally required to do so.
This is not just policy. It’s how we work.
Email and communications
If you’ve opted into our mailing list, you’ll hear from us occasionally — thoughtful content, program announcements, and things we genuinely think are worth your time. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, and we will remove you promptly.
We use a third-party email platform to manage our list. They operate under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies to understand how visitors interact with our content. We use Google Analytics, which collects anonymized usage data. This helps us improve the experience for everyone.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking through your browser settings or by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Your rights
You have the right to:
Know what personal information we hold about you
Request that we correct or delete it
Opt out of any communications at any time
Ask questions — we’ll answer them directly
Depending on where you’re located, you may have additional rights under laws like GDPR or CCPA. We honor those, too.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy in a meaningful way, we’ll note the date at the top of this page. We won’t retroactively change how we handle data you’ve already shared without giving you notice.
Questions? We’re easy to reach.
If anything here is unclear, or you’d like to make a request about your data, just reach out directly. We prefer a direct conversation over a formal process anyway.
