The Rebuild Project

Pause and Re-entry Policy

Founding Cohort · Effective August 202

Why This Policy Exists

This community exists because health does not follow a business plan. It would be strange to build a membership around that truth and then act surprised when a member's health takes them out for a while.

So here is the answer, in writing, before anyone needs to ask: if your health requires you to step away, you can pause. Your payment pauses with you, and your seat is yours when you are ready to come back. Stepping away is not falling behind, and it is not letting anyone down. It is the deal.

How a Pause Works

Starting one. Send me a message. That is the entire process. You do not need to explain your diagnosis, justify the timing, or apologize. “I need to pause” is a complete sentence here.

What pauses. Your payment stops, and your access stops with it. Sessions, recordings, and Office Hours go quiet for you during the pause. Your Slack account is deactivated rather than removed, so your history, your introductions, and everything you have contributed stay exactly where you left them. Nothing about you disappears.

How long. A pause runs up to three months. Members generally take one pause per membership year, but health does not follow rules, so if you need something different, we talk. This policy is a floor, not a ceiling.

The Three-Month Check-In

At the end of a pause, you and I have a short, no-pressure conversation with three honest options on the table:

  • Extend the pause, because you need more time.

  • Come back, because you are ready.

  • Step out cleanly, because this is not the right container for this season.

No option carries shame. The check-in exists so a pause never quietly becomes an exit that nobody named. You deserve a real ending or a real return, not a slow fade.

Coming Back

Re-entry starts with a fifteen-minute conversation with me. Not a gate, a soft landing. You tell me where you actually are, I catch you up on what the group has been carrying while you were out, and you never have to walk into a group session cold and re-explain yourself.

You rejoin at the start of the next month. That keeps your billing clean and gives you a natural first session back instead of dropping into the middle of something.

Your Seat

If your original cohort still exists when you return, your seat in it is guaranteed. If it does not, you have first right to a seat in the next cohort. “Your seat is yours” is not a marketing line. It is a commitment, and this is what it means in practice.

Leaving

If you decide to leave, at a check-in or any other time, you leave with our respect and an open door. I will ask what you want done with your contributions in the community space, and your wishes decide. Former founding members are always welcome to reach out about future cohorts.

The Short Version

If your health takes you out for a while, you pause, your payment pauses, and your seat is yours when you're ready. Coming back starts with a conversation with me, not a form.
